  • MD Anatomy

    This course explores intricacies of structure and function, and how body parts join to form a coherent and adaptable living being. The Anatomy Department at Apollo teaches anatomy using different modalities that emphasize concepts over memorization of facts.

    Course Objective

    At the end of the three years post-graduate training programme in Anatomy the candidate shall acquire a detailed knowledge of the gross and microscopic structure of human body and correlate it with its normal and altered functions and have indepth knowledge of the basic principles of growth and differentiation. The students are trained to improve their Communication skills by participating int the Seminars, Group discussions, Journal Club shall gain Hands on experience about Techniques in microanatomy, neuroanatomy, gross anatomy (embalming, dissection, mounting of specimens), embryology, histochemistry and genetics and Teaching Skills.

  • MD Physiology

    Physiology is the study of how the human body works. It describes the chemistry and physics behind basic body functions, their regulation and integration. The broad goal of MD Anatomy course aims at providing comprehensive training to postgraduate students for application of knowledge in Physiology and research methodology.

    Course Objective

    The purpose of this programme is to nurture competent physiologist, capable of conducting independent research for the advancement of medical sciences , and a good medical teacher in Physiology. A candidate upon successfully qualifying in the MD (Physiology) examinations is well trained that they would be able to Understand and deal with all aspects of general and systemic physiology, conduct relevant clinical/experimental research as would have significant bearing on human health and patient care so also acquire skills in conducting collaborative research in the field of Physiology and allied sciences.

  • MD Microbiology

    Microbiology is the study of the biology of microscopic organisms – viruses, bacteria, algae, fungi, slime molds, and protozoa. The department of microbiology is concerned with the methods used to study and manipulate on how these minute organisms live, breed & effect pathological changes in humans.

    Course Objective

    The main goal of this course is to train students of Medicine in the field of Medical Microbiology:- Theoretical as well as practical training is imparted to the candidates in the subspecialties viz. Bacteriology, Virology, Parasitology, Immunology and Mycology so that they can participate in good patient care and prevention of infectious diseases in the community. They are introduced to basic research methodology so that they can conduct fundamental and applied research. They are also imparted training in teaching methods in the subject which may enable them to take up teaching assignments in Medical Colleges/Institutes.

    Community Medicine, as a branch of medicine is concerned with health of populations. The department of community medicine aims to protect and promote the health and well-being of communities and populations through Primary Health Care approach.

    Course Objective

    MD General Medicine course focuses on imparting theoretical and practical knowledge of advancement in the technology of diagnosing and treating diseases. They are also taught diagnostic investigation procedures, counselling of patients, monitoring patients, and handling of medical equipment. The practical aspects include Ward/ OPD patient management, Long and short topic presentations, Ward rounds, case presentations and discussions, Clinico-radiological and clinico-pathological conferences, Journal conferences, PG Case presentation clinics, Research review, In-house and guest lectures, Conferences, symposia, seminars and CMEs, Participations in workshops, updates, conferences, Teaching undergraduate, Use and maintenance of biomedical equipment.

Department of pediatrics focuses on the prevention & treatment of various disorders which arises due to the malnutrition of infants as well as the genetically acquired disease which need immediate medical attention.

    The goal of Post-graduation (MD) course in Pediatrics is to produce a competent pediatrician who: Recognizes the health needs of neonates, infants, children and adolescents and carries out professional obligations in keeping with principles of National Health Policy and professional ethics; has acquired the competencies pertaining to pediatrics that are required to be practiced in the community and at all levels of health care system; has acquired skills in effectively communicating with the child, family and the community; is aware of the contemporary advances and developments in medical sciences as related to child health; Is oriented to principles of research methodology; and has acquired skills in educating medical and paramedical professionals.

  • MD Radio Diagnosis

    Radiology represents a branch of medicine that deals with radiant energy in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Diagnostic and interventional radiologists are trained to represent the last link in the diagnostic chain, as they search for relevant image information to evaluate and finally support a sound diagnosis.

    Course Objective

    The three-year course in Radiodiagnosis is aimed at imparting training in both conventional radiology and modern imaging techniques so that the candidate is fully competent to practice, teach and do research in the broad discipline of radiology including ultrasound, Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Candidate should be well versed with medical ethics and consumer protection act and the Prenatal Diagnostic Technique (PNDT) Act. Candidates are expected to interact with other specialists and super-specialists so that maximum benefit to the patient accrues.

  • MD Anesthesiology

    Anesthesiology, or anaesthesia, is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine.

    Course Objective

    The goal of MD course in Anaesthesia is to produce a knowledgeable and skilful anaesthesiologist who Is competent to anaesthetize all categories of patients from ASA-I to V with medical problems for every type of elective and emergency surgery. They would be trained to diagnose and treat acute and chronic pain conditions, competent enough to manage critically ill patients in emergency and ICU requiring routine to advanced monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and other interventions. They are guided to remain clear headed and act correctly when faced with critical incidence in the operating room and critical care units and expected to Demonstrate the knowledge of ethics and medico legal aspects related to the practice of anaesthesiology and critical care as a team and show leadership qualities in dealing with paramedics.

  • MS General Surgery

    General surgery encompasses a broad spectrum of operative procedures and has wide scope of interest pertaining to diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases in any region of the body.

    Course Objective

    The goal of MS course in Surgery is to produce a competent surgeon who has acquired the competence pertaining to surgery that is required to be practised in the community and at all levels of health care system and has acquired the skills to manage the patients of trauma, operate on elective and emergency cases effectively and communicating with patient and his attendants and also has acquired skills in educating medical and paramedical professionals. Demonstrate empathy and human approach towards patients and their families, demonstrate communication skills of a high order in explaining management and prognosis, providing counselling and giving health education to patients, families and communities, develop skills as a self-directed learner, recognize continuing educational needs, use appropriate learning resources, and critically analyse relevant published literature in order to practice evidence-based surgery facilitate learning of medical/nursing students, practicing physicians, paramedical health workers and other providers as a teacher/trainer organize and supervise the desired managerial and leadership skills
