Located at Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, Apollo Medical College is a world-class teaching, research, and medical facility dedicated to providing the best primary and secondary health care. The General Hospital is a set up with over 20 specialized departments and over 300 physicians, nursing staff, paramedical and support staff. As one of the best teaching facilities in the state our students, residents & doctors have access to leading-edge care, State of art technology, and excellent bedside education.

We ensure that as part of our patient care regimen we promote health, proper screening and diagnosis, excellent treatment facilities, rehabilitation, and post-operative care to all our patients. Apollo Medical Hospital also has Rural Health Training Centre at Moinabad, Ranga Reddy District. Caterings to the needs here, the facilities are provided 100% free of cost, including the free distribution of medicines. Diagnosis, treatment as well as minor surgeries can be performed at the facility, including an emergency labor room.

The Urban poor also have access to quality primary care through the Urban Health Centre located at Sheikhpet. The OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT here provides for the health care needs of the population of the UHTC field practice area. This facility is equipped for patient examination, diagnosis as well as minor surgical procedures. The diagnosis and treatment of patients are 100% free of cost, including the free distribution of medicines.

General Hospital

Located at the campus of the teaching institute, the General Hospital is a 470 bed, fully equipped hospital. At an easy-access location point, this hospital is well crafted and conveniently positioned for ailing persons from all nearby areas to visit.

The hospital is spread over two blocks and has a lift facility for easy transportation of patients. Emergency rooms and ICUs are strategically placed on the ground floor for the benefit of patients and are fully equipped with the latest medical procedure equipment. Critical Care Specialists manage these facilities under the supervision of respective HODs.

Outpatient Department, Operation Theatre, and Other Facilities

The Outpatient department is designed in a way to provide for spacious and fully equipped consultation rooms for all departments with accompanying rooms that are used for dressing of wounds & injuries and case demonstrations to students. The daily average patient turnover in OPD is about 1000, while the average daily admissions are around 60.

All wards are well equipped and maintained. A doctor is present in each ward, round the clock enabling for dealing with any emergency incidents at any time.

The Operation Theatre complex is well planned and hosts the most modern, latest technology, quality equipment. Each Department has its own OT in the complex.

Radiology Department that is located on the ground floor has 4 X-Ray units and Ultrasound. CT Scan facility is also available on the same premises. Additionally, four mobile X-Ray units are used for the benefit of the patient.

The Central Laboratory is entirely a self-sufficient one, providing accurate, reliable, and verifiable results. This lab is staffed with qualified technicians and has the latest instruments in use, which makes it more reliable.

Additionally, the premises provide 24*7 security and house-keeping services, utilized optimally to keep the hospital environment hygienic and secure.

Uhtc

Run by the Department of Community Medicine, the URBAN HEALTH TRAINING CENTRE or UHTC is located roughly about 3 km from Apollo Medical College premises at Shaikpet. This center is specifically designed to provide quality healthcare to the urban poor, who lose out on essential and life-sustaining medical care as they cannot afford it.

The UHTC has a fully functioning OPD that is open every day, specifically for the nearby populations which are easily accessible due to its central location. This facility is designed to provide a quality patient examination, diagnosis, treatment as well as perform minor surgical procedures. The diagnosis and treatment of patients are 100% free, including the free distribution of drugs.

The UHTC is under the direct purview and administrative control of the Principal of the college. The Professor of Community Medicine supervises the functioning of UHTC through the Associate and Assistant Professors on a rotation basis.

Catering to a population of roughly 50000, mainly involving urban slums, the UHTC has adopted 18 slums in the Shaikpet and nearby areas.

The main aim of this slum adoption program is to make sure that necessary medical care and treatment is not denied to anyone for a reason not being able to afford it.

These camps are held outside the campus area and give excellent exposure to the students to move out of their comfortable work area of the campus and work at the ground level. A fully equipped team is set up for such camps, and primary treatment is provided at the location. Rhtc

The Rural Health Training Center (RHTC)

Run by the Department of Community Medicine, the RURAL HEALTH TRAINING CENTRE or RHTC is located at Moinabad, roughly about 30 km from Apollo Medical College premises. This center is specifically designed to provide quality healthcare to the rural folk, who lose out on important and life-sustaining medical care as they cannot afford it and is not available to them at their proximity.

The RHTC has a fully functioning OPD that is open every day, specifically for the nearby populations which are easily accessible due to its central location. This facility is designed to provide a quality patient examination, diagnosis, treatment as well as perform minor surgical procedures. The diagnosis and treatment of patients are 100% free including the free distribution of drugs.

The RHTC is run under the direct purview and administrative control of the Principal of the college. The Professor of Community Medicine supervises the functioning of RHTC through the Associate and Assistant Professors on a rotation basis.

RHTC Demographic Profile

Catering to a population of roughly 52000, in Moinabad, Ranga Reddy district, the RHTC has works to provide medical aid and assistance in over 26 villages in Moinabad and nearby areas.

The main aim of this rural health care program is to make sure that basic medical care and treatment is not denied to anyone for the reason not being able to afford it and is not immediately available to them. Most persons residing in villages may not be able to visit the city hospitals for primary health care and ignore it which may lead to further health complications. The RHTC is fully dedicated to providing a solution to this issue.

Our Lab Services

For the convenience of the medical students, faculty, and most importantly the patients, the Apollo Medical College offers comprehensive laboratory services on our campus. Outpatient laboratory services offered at our labs provide the healthcare team with the most authentic and efficient test results.

Central Research Laboratory

Apollo Medical College has a state-of-the-art Central Research Laboratory (CRL). It is primarily a molecular biology laboratory. The facility is dedicated to foster the biomedical and clinical research activities of the Faculty, Ph.D. scholars, and postgraduate and undergraduate students from all the specialties of the institution.

The lab is well equipped with real-time PCR, Gradient PCR, Electrophoresis system, Blotter System, Gel documentation system, -80 ̊C & -20 ̊C freezers, and centrifuges. CRL has a fully functional human cell and tissue culture facility to carry out In vitro studies.

The lab has collaborations with Apollo Medical College Hospital, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, and MNJ Institute of Oncology and Regional Cancer Centre, Hyderabad.

Several intramural and extramural funded projects are being carried out at our Central Research Laboratory. Ongoing projects in the lab are focused on the disciplines of Pharmacogenomics and Cancer Biology with a goal of exercising the findings to identify the molecular basis of human health and disease.

CRL is also used for the purpose of organizing structured workshops/ training sessions for staff and students on molecular biology techniques.

Lab Services

Clinical Medical laboratories form the basis for applied sciences and more comprehensive services can be provided in the treatment and management of the patients.

The following specialties are under the laboratory services:

Biochemistry – The department of biochemistry started during the inception of the college in, 2012. The department is involved in teaching (MBBS, Nursing, and Allied Sciences) and is also involved in research and patient care services by providing routine and advanced biochemical analysis for the diagnosis and prognosis and is also participating in the EQAS program conducted by CMC, Vellore. The department has facilities for research in the field of genetics, molecular biology, immunology, clinical chemistry, hormones, and nutrition.

Microbiology – The Apollo medical college Hyderabad conducts both theory and practical classes for 2nd MBBS, Nursing, Physiotherapy & DMLT students according to the KNRUHS guidelines & two postgraduates in MD Microbiology will be joining from June 2020.

The Microbiology Lab located in the hospital building is engaged in clinical and diagnostic work 24 X 7 for Infectious diseases as a support for patient care services. Manned by qualified and dedicated Laboratory personnel and with the help of automated instrumentation, reliable, rapid, and quality assured results are generated, which have helped achieve the three vital characteristics of any Good Laboratory Practice – Accuracy, Precision, and Timeliness.

The various divisions – Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, and Serology, are identified separately and manned by qualified Laboratory personnel.

All investigations are performed as per standard guidelines using Standard Operating Manuals in every division of the lab.

We participate in the EQAS program conducted by CMC Vellore. This not only helps in improving and maintaining the quality of work but also allows everyone to get acquainted and master all the techniques that are being performed in the Lab.

The department is well equipped and prepared to get NABL accreditation soon. The department is actively involved in Hospital Infection Control practices, surveillance of water, Air, Operation theatres, Biomedical Waste Management, and Immunization of all HCPs.

Pathology – Our mission is to provide health care of international standards to every individual. We are committed to achieving, executing, and maintaining the standards in laboratory services for the betterment of people and student development. We are committed to student development programs by sticking with the roots of a well-structured educational program, modernizing student teaching programs, and mentorship. Also, we are part of teaching programs of paramedical departments such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, DMLT courses thus elevating all-round development in the field of Medical science.

The Department of pathology is committed to taking forward the vision of the Apollo group and has set up laboratory services inching forward towards the goal.

The subspecialties and services provided under pathology are:

  • Hematopathology, Histopathology, Cytopathology, and Clinical pathology.
  • The subspecialties are well equipped with all the modern amenities, automated instruments, and technology required for the better outcome of patient care and creating a base for research in modern science.
  • We are setting internal standards on par with the rest of the country by participating in the EQAS program with CMC Vellore, AIIMS NEW Delhi, and RML Lucknow.

Blood Bank – With a mission to save lives, we are committed to the services of immunohematology. This life-saving bank is well equipped with all modern instruments required for testing the samples, storage of blood, and separation of components including platelet apheresis and with the authorized license from the Government of Telangana, India.
